It was a broken process to begin with, and it’s even more brutal now that the power dynamic has completely shifted. Consider that Greenhouse data found that an applicant with a referral is NINE times more likely to get hired than someone without one. Those people aren’t even playing the same game. This is the same strategy I used to use as an executive recruiter to source the best quality talent for our open opportunities - it works! It’s a long game, but building real relationships and trust with people at your target companies will prove more effective than spray and pray applying (coupled with an intentional personal brand, like we’ve been talking about 😆) Good luck out there!
